Lorena Weishaupt Through the Student Exchange Program with
Kahoku I got to know a new culture, a new environment and, of course, new
people. I think all of the participants experienced something they
will probably never experience again. That is the acceptance into a different
family, in a different country, to experience the cordiality of those people and
to get the chance to be part of their community for a few days. The geniality
towards us was just wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to go again and I think
the majority of the group members feel the same. Almost everybody uploaded
their pictures to the school's intranet, so that the other students can also see
how great it was in Kahoku and how much fun we had. It was an amazing time
and we will never forget it!!!
Dominik Pfeiffer Japan was very clean and there was no trash on the streets.
The traditional Japanese food wasn't for me as I don't eat fish, but the
deep-fried foods were very delicious. Moreover, the landscape was very
diversified, with the ocean in the front and the mountains in the
background. The people were very nice and very hospitable, I felt at home at
my host family.
Diana Lim What I liked most about Japan were the
people. They accepted us in an open-hearted manner and took very good care of
us. In particular Mr. Yamakawa, who arranged for our all-around
catering. Thanks to their open attitude it wasn't a big problem to settle in
with their everyday life. Among other things I found their eating habits very
interesting. Sometimes remains from dinner were offered as part of the
breakfast, but fortunately we were served a breakfast that was adjusted to
us. In the beginning communication wasn't easy, and sometimes it was hard to
decrypt their English, but our host families had enough dictionaries ready on
hand, so it wasn't a problem. There was always a way to make ourselves
understood.
Katharina Nebe All in all I enjoyed the exchange with
Japan very much. I experienced and learned a lot about the Japanese way of life.
My family was very nice and generally speaking I can say that the people over
there are very friendly. I found it very interesting to get to know such a
foreign culture. I wouldn't hesitate to go on such a trip
again.
Viola Hipp I was deeply impressed by the mentality, the
friendliness and the politeness of the people in Kahoku. I learned a lot about
Japanese culture. I would definitely like to visit Japan again. As opposed to
Germans the Japanese are very hospitable. The exchange with Kahoku was
fantastic and will always remain in my memory.
Laura Geafer Nice
people, good food, and beautiful scenery ... Japan is about the exact opposite
of Germany. I was offered one of the most amazing experiences, despite the fact
that everything was so different. As mentioned above, the people's friendliness
and cordiality struck me, and we had a chance to experience that as soon as we
arrived in Osaka. Our host families were the Sawadas, who made our stay in
Kahoku a walk in the park. We were treated just like daughters and sisters.
Every day we experienced more about Japan and its culture. I was deeply
impressed by the ninja temple, in which we came to know a lot about the history
and customs of Japan. All in all I can say: it won't be the last time for me
to be in Japan.
Julia Stecher About Japan I liked best that the
people there are so friendly. Our host families treated us like their kids or
siblings and bestowed us with many presents. The lack of ability of each other's
language was problematic in the beginning, but somehow we always managed to
convey what we wanted to say to our host parents and siblings. Sometimes we
needed a little help from our always ready to serve interpreter Melanie
though. Moreover, the food was outstanding without exception. I might have
been the only one in the group who liked almost everything served, even the
traditional Japanese food. All in all, I am of the opinion that our stay in
Japan was very well planned and prepared by Kahoku. We felt in good hands
during the whole stay and above all we felt sincerely welcome.
Felix
Kopp My host family was awesome. Their great hospitality and the cordial
acceptance into the family left a permanent impression with me. From the start I
felt at ease in the family. I was especially impressed by their ever-polite
and helpful disposition not only toward us, but also toward each other. I liked
the food very much, especially sushi. I am looking forward to return at least
a part of the hospitality I experienced at their return
visit.
Alexander Bix From the start I felt comfortable in my host
family, who gave me a warm welcome. Despite the different culture and way of
life I got along well with the Japanese students and made friends with my
exchange student and the others. Once I decided to gamble on the Japanese
cuisine I found that the food was delicious and much better than I first
expected, and quickly I got used to the use of chopsticks and took to it. I
had fun at all of the numerous scheduled items we accomplished and found the
school visits and the visit to the nursing university very informative. They
gave me the chance to add an impression about school life to the insights about
Japanese every day life which I gained through living with the host family.
Moreover I was wowed by the very good organization and the smooth process of the
stay, and the English and German interpreters and chaperones were friendly and
made for a good group atmosphere.
