We love English!

Elementary School English Activities Workshop presentation
October 24, 2007

Die Grundschulen der Stadt Kahoku haben vom Ministerium für Erziehung, Kultur, The elementary schools of Kahoku have, as a two-year project from 2006, accepted the "Elementary School English Activities Community Support Project" request from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and, while aiming at "We love English" rate of 100%, been working on their English activities. About 450 education officials from Ishikawa and other prefectures participated at the workshop presentation at Kanazu Elementary School on October 24, 2007, making it a big event.

The open class comprised a team teaching lesson by the teacher in charge, the ALT (assistant language teacher) and a visiting teacher, and the fourth graders interacting with the youth delegation from Messkirch. From every class room one could hear cheerful delighted voices speaking English.

There was also a display of the subjects the junior high school areas dealt with, and in the full session there were presentations about the English activity efforts of the elementary schools in Kahoku as well as an outline of the research at Kanazu Elementary School.

At last there was a lecture of Hiroyuki Ishihama from the Joetsu University of Education on the subject "Trajectory of two years of elementary school English activities in Kahoku and outlook."

All content received high acclaim by the participants, and we plan to deepen the activities in the future while aiming at a 100% rate of "We love English."
