During the nine days from May 31 to June 4, 2007, a Messkirch delegation of 21 has visited Kahoku. This time, Chief Councilor Gaerte came together with Mayor Zwick. The delegation headed by Mayor Zwick energetically accomplished their program until June 4 and the adult exchange delegation until June 8, despite the hard schedule of visits in Kahoku and exchange activities, starting with a courtesy call at Mayor Aburanofs office on May 31.
Especially during the courtesy call at the mayorfs office, the visit at Kahokudai Junior High School, Unoke Junior High School, Omi Preschool and the company, there were many questions about community mergers in Japan, the education system, the preschool system, and about production activities. One could sense their strong interest toward Japan.
While hosting the delegation, through the cooperation of the Kahoku Association for International Exchange, besides visits in Kahoku, the group visited the 56th Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival, and Japanese cultural activities like calligraphy and tea ceremony were conducted.
Moreover, the adult exchange delegation did visits in the Noto and Kaga area and could not only deepen their knowledge of the rich nature of Ishikawa and its traditional crafts, but also presented their respective family recipes to the people of Kahoku when becoming teachers in a German cooking class. |
