Ongoing Exchange

Adult Exchange group from Messkirch
Mai 25 to June 3, 2009

Twelve people of the adult exchange group from Kahokufs sister city Messkirch in Germany visited Kahoku, homestayed with six local families and deepened the friendship.

The group had, from the day after their arrival in Japan, energetically visited facilities in the city like the prefectural nursing university, Umikkolando Sea and Coastal Museum, and the Nishida Kitaro Museum of Philosophy. They did not seem to be tired from the long journey. They also experienced ancient Japanese culture like making sushi rolls, the use of a furoshiki wrapping cloth, making a fire and crafting a magatama gem.

At the farewell party on the last evening, folk dances and magic tricks were performed to entertain the delegation, and to the sounds of a live shamisen concert a tankobushi circle dance with Japanese and Germans was held, giving way to an exchange beyond language barriers.

In mid-October, a student exchange group is scheduled to come to Kahoku. We hope for your cooperation with the homestay.
